Andy Dick’s Relapse: It’s Not Because of Dancing with the Stars, Says Jennifer Gimenez — Exclusive

Andy Dick Relapse

Our hearts sank when we read the news that Andy Dick had had a relapse in sobriety. According to the New York Post, he has been spotted highly inebriated and seemingly out of control on both the East and West Coast in recent days. Andy has been open about his lifelong struggle with drug and alcohol addiction.

But contrary to what’s being reported, Andy didn’t fall off the wagon over his loss on Dancing with the Stars. His good friend, Jennifer Gimenez, spoke exclusively with Wetpaint Entertainment to set the record straight.

“He didn’t relapse because of Dancing With the Stars,” Jennifer confirms. “He relapsed because he suffers from the disease of alcoholism.”

She adds that only Andy can decide when he’s had enough…and when he’ll be ready for treatment. Says Jennifer: “When he’s ready to get to help, he knows we’re all here for him.” She adds: “I love him very much.”

We wish Andy the best and hope he gets the treatment he needs.

Jennifer Gimenez: Adrienne Maloof’s RHoBH Exit Is a “Great New Start” — Exclusive

Jennifer Gimenez at the Opening Night of Jekyll & Hyde Premiere on February 12, 2013

We were pretty sad when Adrienne Maloof announced she would not be returning for Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Season 4. But one person who won’t be missing Adrienne is Brandi Glanville’s BFF, Jennifer Gimenez.

The model and Sober House star hopes to be featured more in the upcoming season of RHoBH, and she thinks Adrienne’s exit could give the show a fresh start free of “bulls**t drama,” as she put it.

We caught up with Jennifer at the Reality Wanted Awards on April 11 at Greystone Manor in West Hollywood, California. She dished on what moments viewers didn’t get to see, and why she thinks should should join the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Season 4 cast!

Wetpaint Entertainment: What are the things we don’t see on camera?

Jennifer Gimenez: A lot. Well, me and Brandi got in a huge pillow fight. But Brandi and I, like, last night we were together. We’re always together. I’m going to be with her this weekend. And we bicker like a married couple. She’s my best friend.

Is it going to be weird without Adrienne?

No. I think it’s going to be a great new start. I think it’s going to be fresh and new and more excitement and not the same bulls**t drama coming from her.

Fair enough, very blunt.

Well, that’s me.

So who would you want to fill the other slots?

Everyone keeps asking me that. I already said I would love someone like Kim Kardashian. Why not? But I think it’s kind of a boring answer now, too. I don’t know. I just think someone juicy, someone who’s like not afraid to show who they really are.

And I think you might be one?

I hope so.

Jennifer Gimenez Reveals Why She Should Join RHoBH — Exclusive!

Jennifer Gimenez at the Opening of Kyle By Arlene Too on July 21, 2012

Jennifer Gimenez was Brandi Glanville’s rock during some difficult times on Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Season 3 — namely during attacks from co-star Adrienne Maloof and rabble rouser Faye Resnick.

The model and Sober House star is no stranger to drama (she manages a house full of recovering addicts, after all), so would Jennifer consider joining the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Season 4 cast?

We caught up with Jennifer at the Reality Wanted Awards on April 11 at Greystone Manor in West Hollywood, California. She spilled on why she’d love to join the RHoBH cast and whether Faye is as controversial in real life as she comes across on camera!

Wetpaint Entertainment: You’ve wrapped up this season. What are your thoughts in hindsight?

Jennifer Gimenez: I wish I would have been able to speak a little bit more direct to Faye Resnick, now that I look back. I’m not a fan.

In what regards?

I just feel like she was so unclassy on every angle in every way. She was talking about being classy, and yet, she was the epitome of a joke.

Is that clever editing?

No. It’s just who she is. I really believe the camera doesn’t lie. I mean, of course, editing does occur with how things are, but the audience is very smart. The audiences are smart. They can read, and nobody likes her.

Are you up for another season?

I’m hopeful. Hopefully. I’m hopeful that maybe I will be.

Now, that some people have left, do you want to be a full time?

Absolutely. It would be an honor and a privilege to be part of the cast.

Why?

Well, I think that I haven’t been able – I always say when I did Sober House and Rehab, for example, I always felt like I could bring more and I learned more. So I always feel like now, I can bring more. And me and Brandi are best friends. Me and Yolanda [Foster] are very good friends, and me and Lisa [Vanderpump] are good friends. I love some of the other women there too. Taylor [Armstrong’s] great. I’m no longer fearful of some things because it’s a different type of show than the other shows that I’ve been doing.

It should be exciting!

I’m really excited, and I love the girls. And I learned so much, and we actually stay friends after we were done filming.

Exclusive RHoBH’s Jennifer Gimenez: What You DIDN’T See At the White Party — Exclusive

February 22 at 01:43PM EST by Beth Sobol
full size Brandi Glanville and Jennifer Gimenez

When it comes to bringing the drama, Kyle Richards’s White Party is three for three. On Season 1 of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, Taylor and Russell Armstrong’s marital problems imploded at the bash, while on Season 2 their legal threats against Camille Grammer forced them to be turned away at the door.

But on Season 3’s White Party episode, which aired on February 18, it was the showdown between Adrienne Maloof, her husband Paul Nassif and Brandi Glanville that took center stage.

Jennifer Gimenez, Brandi’s best friend, was sitting next to her while Brandi confronted Adrienne and Paul about their threat to sue her for spilling the beans about their reported use of a surrogate. It was a heated exchange, but did we see everything?  Jennifer opens up about what wasn’t shown.

Is there anything about the sit-down between Paul, Adrienne and Brandi we didn’t get to see?
They didn’t show everything that went down, but I think the episode did a good job of summing it up. In addition to bringing emails that proved Bernie was the tabloid source, we also brought the letter from their lawyer. It was a letter of intent to sue. At the end of the day, Paul finally admitted they sent it. It proves that Adrienne lied when she said there was no letter.

What happened after?
Well what you didn’t see yet is that a week later, I saw Adrienne at another taping. She actually thanked me for being a referee.

Was your purpose for being at the White Party to support Brandi during her confrontation with Adrienne and Paul?
I came to the party because Kyle invited me. But I will always have Brandi’s back wherever we are and I didn’t think two on one was fair.

Does Brandi regret spilling their surrogacy secret?
All I can say is that Brandi herself admits she apologized. She sent an email to Adrienne and all the other women in cast saying she was sorry.

Do you think Brandi and Adrienne can ever get along again? Or have things just gone too far?
Personally, I feel it’s past the point where they could ever be friends. Too much has happened. But can they be civil if they’re in the same place? I know Brandi can, she’s a grownup. I don’t know about Adrienne. I really don’t know her that well to say one way or the other.

Exclusive Jennifer Gimenez Loves Being on RHoBH Even With All the “Fighting and Going Crazy” — Exclusive
February 18 at 08:16PM EST by Nicholas White
Jennifer Gimenez Celebrates Fashion's Night Out on September 8, 2011

Model, actress and rehab technician Jennifer Gimenez loves being a guest star on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.

In fact, fans can look forward to seeing quote a bit more of her during Season 3.

Wetpaint caught up with Jennifer at the book release party hosted by Gilt City Los Angeles at Palihouse for Brandi Glanville’s new tell-all, Drinking & Tweeting and other Brandi Blunders.

What’s it like being on RHOBH?
I love being on the show. I am on for the rest of the season. And I went to Vegas with the girls. I’ve become very close with Lisa and Yolanda, who I absolutely love. It’s been so much fun. The show is so big.For me, it was like letting my hair down.

After shows like “[Celebrity] Rehab,” I was helping save lives — I was living with Brandi shooting “Housewives,” and I was shooting “Rehab.” So I would work 18-hour days. The whole house is lit inside. I’m getting home. They’d ask me to do a scene, I’d run inside and do a scene. I’m like oh my God, I’m one big reality. We’ve helped each other so much throughout the years. She actually saved my life. She actually took me to rehab, a lot of people don’t know that. People can say a lot of things about her, but she’s truly a remarkable woman. I get the chills.

What do you think when you get in the middle of these fights on camera?
It was really crazy for me. In that I work with crazies on the other show. When I came on last season, in Malibu, I had never seen one of the Real Housewives shows. All of these girls were fighting and going crazy. I was so confused why there were so off their rockers a lot of the time. It wasn’t everybody. So now when I go on, I stand up.

I’m a little cautious, but there are definitely some people I would fight back.

Are you looking forward to seeing more of Jennifer Gimenez on camera this season on Real Housewives of Beverly Hills?

Real Housewives’ Jennifer Gimenez on Reaching Out to Kim Richards, Fighting With Brandi Glanville — Exclusive
Jennifer Gimenez Poses at the Us Weekly Hot Hollywood Style Event on April 18, 2012
Although she’s not a full time cast member, from time to time Jennifer Gimenez appears as a voice of reason on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills and a comforting presence on Rehab with Dr. Drew. Wetpaint Entertainment chatted with the reality star at the RHoBH Season 3 premiere party on Sunday about juggling two shows, fighting with BFF Brandi Glanville, and reaching out to Kim Richards.
Wetpaint Entertainment: What was it like shooting Rehab and RHOBH at the same time?
Jennifer Gimenez: It was crazy because I was living at Brandi’s house and shooting Rehab, working 18-hour days. I would work nights, and I would wake up and I would shoot Housewives, which was insane! On one show, I’m saving lives and on the other one, I feel like I’m letting my hair down a little bit, yet it’s so dramatic.
Are you still living at Brandi’s?
I recently moved out of Brandi’s. She’s the one who actually threw me into treatment. Brandi and my mom saved my life years ago. We were both going through some changes in our lives and we both thought it was a great idea to move in together and it was. Living with her and the boys was just so great. Now I live on my own; I feel like I’m wearing big girl panties.
You always seem to be there for Brandi; is she always there for you?
Yes, we’re like sisters and we fight like sisters. You see us bicker a little bit; we’re like an old married couple. She’s family, and she shows up for me all the time and I show up for her. What we do is real love; it’s unconditional.
Aside from Brandi, who else do you get close with this season?
I love Yolanda [Foster]; I get very close with Yolanda. I get very close with Lisa [Vanderpump]. I think Kyle [Richards] is great.
You’re seven years sober, is that correct?
I will be in January!
Have you been able to reach out to Kim and offer her guidance or advice?
I did! I reached out to Kim last year at the end of the show. I said, ‘Do you need my help? Is there something I can do?’ She was like, ‘Eff you, you’re Brandi’s friend.’ I said, ‘Eff Brandi and the cameras. This is about your life.’ This year, we actually got to know each other a little bit more so it was nice. Everyone always asks me ‘How can you do a show like Housewives and Rehab? How dare you?’ It’s like I got sober to live my dreams and I can’t, so I don’t, but everyone else is entitled to drink or do whatever, I’m not here to save the world.
Any chance we’ll see you acting in the near future?
Yes, I have Rehab out right now. I shot a movie called Chastity Bites last year; it was my first movie back sober. Then I shot another one, Groom’s Cake, and it’s won seven out of eight in the film festivals for best comedy.
I’m shooting another feature in November called Birthday Cake so I’ve been really busy. I’ve been co-hosting another show and I still do CNN and HLN. I don’t sleep, and I’m writing a book. I lost 130 pounds! In recovery, I gained 100 pounds but I’ve lost 130 since.

Rehab With Dr. Drew’s Jennifer Gimenez Talks a “Jaw Dropping” Scene and Moonlighting on Real Housewives of Beverly Hills — Exclusive
by   Beth Sobol
Jennifer Gimenez at the Opening of Kyle By Arlene Too on July 21, 2012

In Hollywood, celebrities often wear several different hats. Some act and play music. Others star on reality shows and design clothing lines. But perhaps no one’s gigs are more different than Jennifer Gimenez, who helps supports patients on the brink of death on Rehab With Dr. Drew while also being an ally to BFF Brandi Glanville on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.

Wetpaint Entertainment caught up with Jenn, who opened up about keeping her sanity working both jobs and clued us in about a major spoiler coming up later this season on Rehab.

Wetpaint Entertainment: How does treating this group of “regular” addicts differ from treating celebrities?
Jennifer Gimenez: It’s really different. They’re not doing the show for their careers or for any other ulterior motive. They have nothing left and nothing to lose. They’re raw, they’re real, and they’re very, very sick.  They’re what I call Level 10 Hope-to-Die alcoholics and drug addicts.
Can you explain what you mean by that, a Level 10 alcoholic or addict?
Someone who’s Level 10 literally cannot stop using once they’ve started. They’ve lost themselves entirely — mentally, physically, emotionally. There are no more “yets” in their life, as in “Well, at least I haven’t done this yet”or “I’m not so bad; I don’t do that, yet.” They’re desperate. But the good news is that’s the best place to be in for someone who wants to get sober. They need to be willing to go to any lengths.
Considering they’re that sick, is a month of treatment enough?
There’s so much aftercare needed. They were in for 21 days, which is when we shot the show, but many of them went into sober living and aftercare with Dr. Drew and Bob. I’ve been involved with some of them now, and it’s a good three months later.
Can you describe the toughest moment of filming?
You will see something that will shock you. There is something coming up that has happens between a patient and me and it’s just… jaw dropping. You think you’ve heard it all, but you haven’t. It ended up being a therapeutic experience for both of us, but it was very brutal and very intense.
You also appear on Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. Is filming that show and filming Rehab like night and day?
Well, actually the shooting schedule crossed over for a day or two there. There were two days where I worked on Rehab for 18 hours straight, then had to go shoot a scene for Housewives.  But that’s just my life. I adapt. Compared to what I do on Rehab  — which is help people decide if they want to live or die — Housewives is actually where I get to let my hair down. I get to dress up and put on my heels and just kind of go with it. There’s drama, of course, but it’s much different.
At the end of the day, I’m blessed to be able to do both and do my job as a counselor at the KLEAN treatment center and pursue an acting career. And I know none of it would be possible if I hadn’t gotten sober.
